on the way to visit PORTS BISHOP, a young photographer, who is about to have his first one man show - ever - at HaNNa Gallery in TOKYO - his studio is in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NYC, Nov 8, 2005

The first thing that strikes you about Williamsburg, especially down near the river, is that there is still alot of graffiti, unlike Manhattan, where there is a determined campaign to eradicate all traces completely. Williamsburg, NYC, Nov 8, 2005

Ports has his studio in the big building on the right. That's Manhattan, looks to be Union Square (14th St.) across the East River. Williamsburg, NYC, Nov 8, 2005

Ports Bishop, the name has been handed down in his family for generations. Born in 1976, he was raised in Peterborough, New Hampshire. Educated at the Dublin School, Boston University, The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and most importantly, attended the Rhode Island School of Design, when FORT THUNDER was a powerhouse of creativity, Williamsburg, NYC, Nov 8, 2005

Ports' friend, Kana, who is also a talented artist, works as studio assistant in the front half of the small loft apartment. Ports moved to NYC, 4 years ago, in 2001 and, typical NYC story, the building is being rennovated and his has to move in 2 months. Williamsburg, NYC, Nov 8, 2005

Ports Bishop is now on the faculty of the I.C.P. (International Center of Photography) where he started off as a T.A. He is wearing a necklace made for him, by HANNA FUSHIHARA ARON, who runs both Little Cakes here in New York, and HaNNa in Tokyo. And he only wears shirts, customized by LEIF RITCHEY, check out the ribbon on the pocket, Williamsburg, NYC, Nov 8, 2005

Apparently Leif deconstructs the new shirts, and sews them back together in different ways, Ports Bishop studio visit, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NYC, Nov 8, 2005

Future Friends, which is also the title for this catalogue and exhibition, is in the hope that anyone you see or meet could be a future friend.
