Tom won our hearts forever with his hand-built NASA teacup, ATAN CERAMICS – SALON 94.
all is takes is one tiny piece, to burn a hole in your brain – forever.
MICHAEL FOX is an art collector, who used to work in Tom’s studio back in the day, the 80s. he’s now a member of the NYPD, but I bet he’s the only cop on the force – with work from TOM SACH’S . . ‘NUTSY’S’ his miniature car racing install, one of his best projects, ever.
for sure, I was there.
THEO and KATE CERIGO, the awesome brother & sister team who are putting up a one day / one night pop-up this Spring in Chinatown of the work of 3 under-represented artists, they grew up with in the rocking 80s.
hide in your storefronts, no more – !! come out, come out – wherever you are.
all you need is just ONE NIGHT – in this friggin gritty town of strivers & losers !!
‘UNDER THE VOLCANO: SIMON CERIGO, DAN ASHER and NANCY SMITH’

with much thanks, for his support & encouragement to: NICHOLAS STEINDORF.

back to the show – !!
Agnes B. is a kind of pop-up too. very cool. nice place to see Pat’s works, which worked very well against the store’s brick walls, and over-all distressed look.

yes, those are 3-dimensional . . stoneware clay bowls, hand-built by Pat for the coop, or for your wall in this case.
beautiful crafting, beautiful production/concept.
looking into the nestbowl, stoneware pottery – is just so . . pitch perfect, for right now.
very tactile, functional imperfect, perfect.
a wall of photo-copy transfers onto clay, dub dub, dub. great vs the distressed brick wall.
Copy exactly, NOT !!
clay and photo – so basic elemental. so IRON-toned, and iron-willed.

well, and at least he knew when to get out of . . ‘mini’.
though JJ, don’t ever drop – that ball.
ok, ok – a glimpse inside of Agnes B.
dig those white bulky ‘trainers’, as the Brits say. about running shoes.
can there ever . . be enough of distressed chairs ?!!
not in my lifetime.
musical chairs, or what !! talk about PATINA of the functional.
love vintage design, and all . . hands-on history/story-telling.
good-bye for now, PAT McCARTHY, originally from rural Connecticut, Bushwick-based for several years now, who put on ‘PAT’S PIGEON CLUB’ at MUDDGUTS last summer, RIP Muddguts, what a loss.
and more recently took the mainstream peeps, esp the fashion world !! who loved his t-shirts . . for a huge trend-setting thrill ride – at SATAN CERAMICS, SALON 94.
great show !!
priced to go, too. damn, yes . . . opportunity still stalks NYC, esp for those who . . can s-e-e !!
and, are not afraid to buck – the maddeningly dumbed-down masses, and media bs.
maybe, it’s a good thing the ‘new’ Whitney is all about Edward Hopper classics, do we really want our underground insitutionalized ? hell, no.
so fun to hit up Agnes b, or an empty storefront in transition – on the BOWERY !!
see you at the CLOSING PARTY – THURS MAY 7 / 6-8 PM – !!
