~JOE BRADLEY . . . THEN & NOW !!
CONGRATS !!
TO JOE BRADLEY . . for the great, rave review – his recent show at PETZEL,
scored in the NEW YORK TIMES:
“at 46, the well-known painter changes direction, emphasizing intuition over concept to make the most riveting paintings of his career.”

I was the first to write up his debut early shows – at CANADA,
including my fav, ‘Shmagoo Paintings’, at Canada / which ran Oct 25 – Dec 3, 2008,
and, which features prominently – in that recent NYT article.
“The best of these bare minimum works was a series of enormous raw canvases that boasted a single motif outlined in black oil crayon.
While monumental, they had the intimacy of doodles, and were drawn all at once without adjustments,
which was impressive.”

an animated & very beloved children’s media figure, created in 1949, by MILLARD KAUFMAN,
Mr. Magoo, “was an elderly, wealthy, short statured retiree who gets into a series of comical
situations as a result of his short-sightedness, compounded by his stubborn refusal to admit the problem.”
